In Sweden the 30th of April is the day we celebrate that spring is on its way, so that is what I did only I did it my own way, in the forest making a fire and cooking a nice meal.
I went to a spot I have never been to before. Just picked up my map and found this place close to Skokloster outside Sigtuna. The only criteria were to find a place close to the water, so that’s what I did.
If I know I will be making a fire, I usually prepare a little bit at home (call it cheating if you want). I bring a little bit of bark from the birch I have collected before. This makes it so much easier to get the fire going. Actually making a fire quickly is all about preparations.
I really enjoy this kind of outdoor experience, close to home and quick to get there. It doesn’t have to be big and far away to be great. Greatness is often closer than you know.
When I climbed a tree hanging out over the water, I heard a big splash from the lake. I thought it was a big fish coming up to the surface, but when I looked a few seconds later I saw a beaver swimming! Didn’t I tell this was a good spot 😉
Ended the day with a nice cup up coffee!
Let’s bring the spring!
