On Friday Fjällräven Classic will once again kick off from Nikkaloukta where more than 2000 participants will hike their way through the Kings trail (Kungsleden) towards Abisko.
Being part of a big trekking event like this is not only fun because you get to meet so many new friends. It is also fun because you can learn a lot from the other trekkers and volunteers. One thing I know many of the participants are talking about is the backpack and what to put in it.
A few weeks ago, I wrote about some packing tips from Johan Skullman. The one thing I try to adopt, is to divide your gear into “must have” items and “luxury” items. Value the must have items, both in weight and in purpose. All these things will be necessary for your safety. This is how light your backpack can be. Everything other than that will be luxury and it’s up to you how much you can carry. This is what I bring, luxury included!
